A New Beginning?

Last Sunday 7th
It was an emotional gathering as we said thank you and goodbye to Rachel, Malcolm and Barbara. Their love, faithfulness and significant contributions over the years have been such a blessing and it was a privilege to be able to thank them publicly, pray for them and present them with gifts of appreciation. Rachel had a gift for Gerald and Anona of Hellebore flowers that flourish through the winter and Barbara had prepared some beautiful photos she had taken with words of encouragement for everyone at Engage, including the children, alongside a copy of her book. It was acknowledged and emphasised several times by different people that they haven’t disappeared, they will still be around and that we are all part of one church albeit different branches.

The rest of our time together was spent contemplating the future in small groups with opportunity for feedback. There was a sense of excitement as we thought about what it means to ‘get back to our roots’ a phrase Dale Gentry used when he prophesied to Gerald about this next part of the journey we are on together. This was the first in a series of meetings where we will focus on the vision for the church and left us with an expectancy and hope for what God wants to do with us in 2018.

Gerald also shared that on Saturday, in Bookham High Street, Anona tripped and fell. She banged her head on the road, damaged her knee and to protect herself put out both arms. Sadly as she fell both wrists broke. They spent 6 hours at Epsom Hospital and from her knuckles to her elbow she is in plaster making it almost impossible to do anything as only her finger tips can move. Anona can walk, talk, rest her eyes for prayer or sleep and has just discovered she can use a middle finger to text. However, she cannot wash or feed herself, answer the phone or lift anything. We appreciate your support and prayers as this is likely to continue for a few months.

Next Sunday 14th January
We are looking at the development of existing cells and there will also be a number of new cells. We will be hearing from a few of the cell leaders with their expectations. There will be plenty of time for further comments and questions and lots of prayer in between. Come before 3:50pm and a cup of tea or coffee will be waiting for you. We would like to start as near to 4pm as we can.
