Streams In The Dessert
Last Sunday 11th
What a marvellous turn out at church halls this Sunday! The place was bursting at the seams with lots of visitors – some old friends and a few new faces. The Spirit of God was very evident as Luke led us in a refreshing time of worship. Luke shared with us how he had gone for a walk with his four year old son who proceeded to collect stones and give them to his dad to look after. Luke filled his coat with the stones and off they went home. A few days later Luke put on his coat and went out wondering why it felt so heavy – it was still full of the stones they’d collected earlier, which were weighing him down. Luke told this story as he felt that some people in the meeting may be carrying heavy weights around with them but the good news is that God wants them to unload these and leave them with Him. It was an amazing release to be able to give all our burdens to Jesus and rest in his grace and peace.
It was wonderful to see Anona back with us, albeit with both arms strapped up! Anona thanked everyone for their love and support over the past few weeks helping her through what was a very traumatic and difficult time. Anona welcomed John and prayed for him as he came to share his story.
John managed to squash 81 years of history into 30 minutes, reminding us of the tremendous journey the church has come on during the last century. Sometimes we can get frustrated and discouraged with church so this reflection was really encouraging and inspiring. It was very challenging to hear that although John has seen so many great things happen in the past, he is still looking forward and that at 81 years of age he is still on the move and has somewhere to go. John reminded us of Isaiah 43:18-19 and exalted us to forget the former things and look for the new thing God is doing. If you want to be encouraged and challenged, do listen to the whole talk by clicking here.
